Kate

My name is Kate. I am young, ambitious and my mission is to infiltrate the world by way of rock! You tend know me as the newest rock chick on the scene that entertains you from 10 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon to make your workday tolerable. Who has the voice behind the mic? What is in my backround that you would find interesting? Well since you took the time to read about me, I'll fill ya in on the basics.

I was born on August 25, 1988 (yeah I'm young you do the math). I grew up by Detroit, Michigan and I am proud of it. Actually, a little fun fact is that MC5 went to my high school. I am the middle child having a younger brother and older sister and three of the most beautiful nieces in the world, and yes I do have middle child syndrom and the way I get attention is to shock my family as much as possible (which yes included hey mom, dad I wanna be a dj!) Growing up I had a lot of people that pushed what music they liked down my throat but now that I am older I appreciate it. My dad was all about motown, My grandma was big band and swing, my older sister was in love with 80's hair metal, but my mom played the music that made the biggest impression. Classic rock. (My favorite band, in case you are wondering, is The Doors.)

Like I said I always have to come up with ways to shock my family. So when I graduated high school I decided the four year university route was not for me. I went to The Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts instead. Not too long after I started school I held an internship with Greater Media Detroit (WRIF). During that internship I learned a lot and even got the pleasure of being the first "Midnight Metal" Newsgirl. I went from the two greatest  mentors I have ever known, "Screamin" Scott Randall and Allen "Slayer" Beck, to "Rockin" Zac Thomas and my East Carolina Radio family (but I'm jumping ahead so back to the story) Once I graduated from Specs and my internship ended the job hunt was on and that is what brought me to the beautiful Outer Banks. 953 The Rock is my first real and paying job in radio and I love every second of it. I am lucky to get not only a job for what I went to school for but do something I truely love.I never even saw the ocean before I got here and even though I am 13 hours away from where I grew up the Outer Banks is slowly starting to feel more like home.

As far as my life right now I can sum it up for ya pretty easily. Music, listening to music, working with music, spending time  with  friends and making new friends while listening to music or going to concerts, and being with the other love of my life Dave. There is my life if you have any questions or just want to talk music let me know! Thanks
