I’m Zac I do afternoons 3 till 7pm and I am the Program Director of 95.3 FM The Rock!
Born in Detroit during the glory days of FM radio . Sometime after my 1st concert at Cobo Hall in Detroit (Johnny Cash) I realized I wanted to be in the business! It came to me during a 24 hr peyote binge when I first saw the light! I wanted to be a DJ!
I had to be on the radio so I applied for an internship at the legendary Detroit Rock Station WRIF spent about 8 months there driving the station van around town and giving away stickers and concert tickets to the listeners! From there I went back to school and got my degree in broadcasting.
My first job in radio was at a classic country station in the Detroit area it was fun but it wasn’t rock and I needed to rock!
After taking a couple years off to see how much beer I could drink in any 1week period I packed up and moved south landing a great gig at a great radio station in Panama City Florida 97X.. After 3 years of fun and debauchery I beat the crap out of my boss for not letting me play Metallica’s Last Caress during the morning show and left (in handcuffs) I ended up across town at another great rock station Pirate Radio. That was fun for awhile until I realized that I was working for the great Satan of radio (I won’t drop any names but the initials were CC) I couldn’t stand the corporate big brother watching over my shoulder and moved on bouncing around the southeast for a bit. Then I got the call from 95.3 FM The Rock! The guy on the phone (my new boss) promised no corp. interference and told me he wanted me to bring The Rock back to the great FM rock radio days and also said I could play and program the station anyway I wanted as long as it rocked! I had never herd of The Outer Banks of North Carolina so I googled it and well let me tell ya I saw a chain of islands off the NC coast and I fired up the Camero and headed to the coast! I love it hear the people are great the company I work for get radio and with the grace of god I’m staying till the drag my ass out!
Remember we do listen to you the listener and we do play what you ask and try to surprise you with classic rock that you may not have heard on the air in the last 20 years.
So give us a call or shoot us an email and let us know if we are doing it right! Thanks for being a part of the 95.3 FM The Rock family and letting my crew and me bend your ear everyday and rock your ass’s! With out you people listening we wouldn’t be anything!
